Avana Cares, Elder Care Facility located in Dehu Road, Kiwale, Pune

Ours is a premium assisted living/elder care facility in the PCMC (Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation) belt. Avana's origins run deeper than a single decision. Our Co-Founder and Director, Ms. Nihharikaa Nagrani, grew up watching care happen at home. Her mother, an only child, looked after both of her own parents through years of managing diabetes, caring with love while balancing her career, though it was not easy and took its toll. When Ms. Nihharikaa's mother was later diagnosed with cancer, her father, Sameer Nagrani, became her primary caregiver, carrying that role alongside running his successful business. In the Nagrani family, care has been lived across two generations, in their own home.

It was this experience at home that shaped our Co-Founder's thought to serve. Ms. Nihharikaa went on to study Health Administration at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, one of the leading hospitals in the United States, where she examined elder care models closely and saw a different reality between India and the Western world. Seniors in the Western world are generally self-aware about ageing. They recognise early that they will need support, and they voluntarily choose communities where they stay active, engaged and well looked after. That awareness and acceptance is still lacking in Indian society. Avana Cares is an effort in this direction. It intends to spread awareness while helping seniors who need care right within the PCMC belt.

Avana was never an afterthought on a growing market or an opportunity in the market. Avana is a philosophy, shaped by a lifetime of caregiving and sharpened by formal training abroad. She went on to study Senior Living Management at Cornell University, New York, before building Avana Cares.

Life at Avana

Daily life at Avana is designed so that elders spend their time in meaningful engagements, helping them be more physically and cognitively active. The facility offers a community of like-minded people, physiotherapist-led activities, billiards, a gym, a movie theatre, a terrace garden, a library, indoor games, art and craft, music and celebrations, and more. The facility offers a hassle-free life to our resident seniors.

At Avana we believe care should be an enabler running quietly in the background. An in-house doctor, round-the-clock trained nursing staff, routine health checks, medication management, physiotherapy and coordination for specialist visits keep families reassured without making health the centre of every day. The premises are built senior-first: ramps, grab bars, anti-skid bathrooms and panic buttons throughout.

How we think about pricing

All of the above requires considerable effort in terms of the manpower and infrastructure needed. When we built Avana, we started with a question: what would a senior need for a truly hassle-free life here? We sat down and listed everything, down to the smallest detail, and then built all of it into one package. The idea was simple. Once a senior moves in, there should be nothing left for them or their family to worry about.

Residency is offered across three formats: Private Room (Single), Private Room (Couple) and Couple Suite. The package includes meals, housekeeping, laundry, engagement activities and everyday care support. Pricing varies in accordance with the care requirements of the senior, hence we interact with the family to understand the actual requirement before quoting the final price.

Located at Vikas Nagar, Pendse Colony, Dehu Road, Kiwale, Pune, Avana Cares offers assisted living for elders across a range of care needs, with 46 care units and a team focused on everyday wellbeing rather than institutional routine.
